- ➤ The AMVETS monthly breakfast returns today at 8:00 a.m.—11:00 a.m. at the Bannock County Veterans Memorial Building on 300 N Johnson Avenue in Pocatello after building repairs from flooding; the event costs $10, with free meals for first responders and kids 5 and under, and attendees who bring one new, unwrapped toy receive breakfast as part of the Marine Corps League Detachment 698 Toys 4 Tots program. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho State Board of Education is holding a special meeting today at 1:30 p.m. to review a proposed tuition and fee increase for four-year institutions for academic years 2025 and 2026 (the meeting will be live streamed on YouTube). KPVI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Pocatello said the eastbound lane of the Center Street Underpass reopened last night as the 1st Avenue Storm Project wraps up paving on 1st Avenue north of Center Street—both lanes will reopen next week. The project also installed a new storm sewer system from East Clark Street to East Whitman Street to reduce flooding during heavy storms. KPVI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A local bank donated $2,000 to the Bingham Healthcare Foundation to pay for new Halo Swivel Bassinets at Grove Creek Medical Center in Blackfoot (units that help babies sleep safely and bond with their mothers). Troy Eppich from Zions Bank said the innovative bassinets are expected to improve newborn care (a welcomed change in infant safety practices). KPVI
