- ➤ The once-notorious motel at 1415 South 5th Avenue across from Mountain View Cemetery has been transformed into Portneuf Valley Lodge, a long-term affordable housing project managed by the Robertson siblings (Brady, Clay, and Aubree). The property will hold an open house (Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to show the updated 43 rental units designed to help individuals and families rebuild their lives. East Idaho News
- ➤ Portneuf Valley Farmers Market will open its 2025 season tomorrow, May 3, at Lookout Point with fresh produce, local crafts, live music, and a new Harvest Rewards program that gives bonus bucks when shoppers earn stickers—this new rewards program aims to help the community during tough times. The market also adds 15 new vendors and five new local farmers in its third year—music by LuAnna Berry and local bands will add to the day's events. East Idaho News
- ➤ The Westside Players at The Warehouse have launched a Spotlight Campaign to raise $30,000 for much-needed repairs, including $18,000 for five broken heaters and nearly $12,000 to upgrade their 38-year-old stage & improve performance space. They have raised about $8,000 so far and will host the Spotlight Gala on May 3 at 7 p.m. with local bands, singers and comedy groups to boost the campaign. KPVI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 43-year-old school district employee was arrested Tuesday after police said he downloaded and shared child pornography—he was a climate control specialist at the local district and now faces eight felony counts of possessing or accessing and two counts of distributing child sexually exploitative material. East Idaho News
- ➤ Yesterday, the Shelly Police Department released a warrant for Michael Shane Fox, who failed to appear in court for driving without privileges — his bond is $5 thousand. KPVI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 opened the PV-TECH Campus with a ribbon cutting and tours at the renovated Allstate call center in Chubbuck — a project that took 18 months and used $21 million in government funds and a $6.5 million grant. The campus now offers 22 career pathways with classes in welding, computer programming, EMT, CNA, textiles, firefighting, and law enforcement. KPVI

- ➤ The Pocatello Water Department will host its 31st Annual Open House from May 5 through May 8 at the Water Operations Facility—designed to teach youth and adults about water conservation, quality, and stewardship. City staff and partners will offer interactive displays and demonstrations during set hours each day. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
