  • Registration is open for Wrestling for Abby, a wrestling clinic and tournament set for early summer in Blackfoot (Snake River High School, June 25-27). Funds raised will support Abby Hayball (with autism, cerebral palsy and kidney disease) and her family.  East Idaho News
  • Local scout units will host a free scout expo on Saturday, May 2, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Portneuf Wellness Complex where kids and teens can enjoy a climbing wall, disc golf, and various scout activities — from knots and lashings to kinetic marble racers.  KPVI

  • A fifth-generation cattle ranching family opened an all-natural refillery and farm shop that now brings together over 67 local vendors — offering residents a unique homestead store experience with fresh, local goods under one roof.  Idaho State Journal

  • The Marshall Public Library in Pocatello is hosting the 2026 Portneuf Chamber Series Spring Concert on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The free event will feature string works (Mozart, Reinhold Gliere and Franz Schubert) as part of its Music in the Library program.  KPVI
  • Marshall Public Library announced that it will host the 24th annual Free Comic Book Day tomorrow, May 2, offering free comics from Avatar to Spider-Man for readers of all ages.  Idaho State Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Power encouraged customers to boost home comfort and reduce energy use by replacing HVAC air filters, adjusting thermostat settings with a $50 smart thermostat incentive (details on idahopower.com/save) and cleaning debris from outdoor units as warmer days arrived.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bannock County commissioners approved a new ambulance plan that ends Inkom’s volunteer service on July 24 (to boost response times), shifting coverage to a newly staffed ambulance at the McCammon fire station. This change will add full-time paramedics to improve emergency services in south Bannock County.  East Idaho News
