  • Pocatello local business owner Jeff Huckstep launched his Pawtorc brand of canine cuisine, which offers dog owners nutritious food made from safe ingredients (from the United States) and serves pets across Southeast Idaho.  Idaho State Journal
  • Round River Baking has a new owner as Alisha Christopher-Czopek left her full-time job to focus on her micro-bakery after running it from her home for two years. She juggles sourdough dreams with caring for her 10-month-old while planning to grow the business locally.  Idaho State Journal
  • Tatted Beauty Ink opens in Pocatello—offering flash tattoos and full sleeves crafted by artist Ally Wilcutt to bring fresh designs to the community.  Idaho State Journal

  • Cody Lightning, the Smoke Signals star, will have his film Hey Viktor showcased at the upcoming Spark of Madness Film Festival in Pocatello.  Idaho State Journal
  • Nick Hottman, a local artist, will start working on a new community mural at Marshall Public Library on Monday, adding vibrant art to the library’s space.  Idaho State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 invites families to view America Through the Eyes of Our Learners at Gate City Coffee on Friday, May 1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The free event features over 200 student artworks and live musical performances at Historic Downtown, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

  • Idaho Fish and Game advises residents to leave baby wildlife undisturbed this spring, as mothers often step away temporarily to feed. The agency recommends calling its office if an animal appears injured.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dirk Kempthorne, the former governor who also led the Interior Department, died Friday night at 74 from late-stage cancer. Flags were lowered to half-staff at state buildings until his memorial service details are announced.  East Idaho News
