ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Power filed its annual Power Cost Adjustment with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission on April 15 and said that if approved, residential bills will drop by about $9.97 a month—combining a $5.79 and $6.36 decrease offset by a $2.18 rise related to relicensing. The new rates will take effect on June 1 if the filings are approved. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ Gov. Brad Little signed off on a bill today— the measure mothballs his Empowering Parents education initiative and halts plans for the program's further development. Post Register
- ➤ Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 announced that Brandon Jackson will serve as the new Athletic Director at Pocatello High School effective July 1 as he replaces Robert Parker, who retires June 30 after nearly 23 years of service. Jackson brings over a decade of experience in teaching and coaching—he plans to boost support for both academics and athletics at the school. Local News 8

- ➤ Mayor Brian Blad is accepting applications to fill City Council Seat #4 after Josh Mansfield resigned to attend law school at Brigham Young University. Applications must be received at the Mayor’s Office by 5 p.m. on April 30—the new councilperson will serve the remainder of the term ending January 8 and must win the November 2025 election for a new term. - ➤ The Idaho State University track team posted strong finishes at the Utah Spring Classic at Utah University last week—Stockham won the women’s pole vault with a 3.95 meter clearance and Van Der Watt took second in the men’s event with 4.95 meters while other athletes placed in shot put, javelin, and relay events and Becker set a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles that ranks fourth-fastest in school history. The Bengals will travel to Azusa for the Bryan Clay Invitational this week and return on May 2 and 3 for the Bengal Invitational to finish the regular season. East Idaho News
