COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pocatello will host its annual Portneuf Valley Environmental Fair on Saturday to celebrate Earth Day with free food, plants, a kids scavenger hunt, interactive learning and live music downtown (80 exhibitors will be present). Fair coordinator Brenna Olson said the event will bring neighbors together to learn about local conservation and sustainable living.  East Idaho News
  • Idaho Period Project will host the EmpowHER Gala at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at the Mountain America Center in Idaho to raise awareness and funds for period support initiatives.  Post Register

  • Pocatello librarian Gracie Marsden published her first novel, Bones of Jade, Flesh Like Ice, an adult fantasy inspired by Taiwanese mythology; it is available for pre-order and will be released Nov. 10.  KPVI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • East Idaho experienced its warmest winter on record with reduced snowfall (its main water source), fueling concerns about water shortages this summer. Local officials plan to monitor water levels closely.  Post Register

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Road Construction and Traffic Report details street sweeping, pothole repairs, Westello Blvd water main replacement (6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Mon–Thu) for 2-3 weeks and Benton Street Bridge work starting April 15; West Whitman is closed today for an event while South Garfield will close Saturday for a fair.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • Two major roadway safety projects are under construction to reduce accidents and improve walkability along North Main St. and North Arthur Ave and at the Flandro Dr and East Quinn intersection (drivers are urged to allow extra travel time due to lane closures).   • Bannock County posted several job openings in Pocatello on April 13 including roles for Law Clerk, Code Enforcement Officer, Emergency Management Director and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney positions. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City leaders say construction is underway for the new Connections Credit Union Clubhouse at Riverside Golf Course. The two-story, 3,700 sqft building will feature a golf simulator, restaurant, pro shop, and patio, while demolition of the old clubhouse will begin soon.  KPVI

  • This week’s local Photo of the Week contest features sports images from a weekend in Pocatello that include tennis plays, rodeo highlights, and the opening of the high school's new baseball field.
