  • The Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship is hosting a grocery store food drive today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fred Meyer, Ridley's and Albertson's in Pocatello — volunteers at each location will collect non-perishable food donations as part of the Idaho Foodbank feeding the Five Thousand families Operation.  KPVI
  • PMC is launching a new air rescue program in Pocatello and a local child has been invited to name the helicopter that may one day save lives + The program partners with a national team to boost local emergency support.  Idaho State Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Jumbos, the longtime family-run restaurant known for huge portions since 1966, is expanding with a new food truck at 4539 South 5th Ave (while still serving at Ross Park Aquatic Complex) as owner Heidi Hunsaker confirms its classic menu remains unchanged.  East Idaho News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • LA Semiconductor LLC laid off 342 employees, with the first wave on April 10 + a second wave planned for May 1. Pocatello officials, including Mayor Mark Dahlquist, remain optimistic as they work with Idaho Commerce to secure a buyer for the troubled facility.  Local News 8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game’s Southeast Region will host a Hunter Education Open House for volunteer instructors on Friday, April 24, at its regional office in Pocatello (1345 Barton Rd) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be provided.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

HEALTH NEWS

  • Portneuf Medical Center celebrated National Donate Life Month with a Donate Life Rising Flag Ceremony that honored donors and recipients, and Mayor Mark Dalquist proclaimed the month as donors shared personal stories of organ donation.  KPVI

  • On Thursday, April 10, Pocatello High School opened its new Rails West Field as the Thunder hosted the Highland Rams in a 10-1 game; the new ballpark (the team’s first true home) filled players and fans with pride.  East Idaho News
