- ➤ Registration is open for the 29th Run with the Big Dogs fundraiser on Saturday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Centennial Park where participants join a 2K walk/run and 5K run to support the Pocatello Animal Shelter + enjoy community vendors and dog treats. East Idaho News
- ➤ The community is invited to a Thunder vs. Rams baseball game on Thursday, April 9, with festivities starting at 4:00 p.m. at the new Rails West Field next to Hawthorne Middle School and Halliwell Park (Eldredge Street side), where free hot dogs, giveaways, and shirts are available. - ➤ SEICAA is running its 'Home Sweet Home' campaign to help Bannock County residents cover rent, mortgage, or bill payments. The campaign started April 1 and runs until next April to provide crucial local support. KPVI
- ➤ During the Christmas season, Giving Machines collected over $2.8 million in eastern Idaho. The machines visited Pocatello from Nov. 15 to 30, Rexburg from Dec. 1 to 14, and Idaho Falls from Dec. 15 to Jan. 1 (supporting six local charities) with funds set to aid community programs. - ➤ The ISU Powwow returned this past weekend at Reed Gym in Pocatello after a 10-year break, with Native American students and tribal members enjoying competitive dances, drumming, and vendor booths featuring traditional crafts+food. Organizers plan to hold the event again next year. East Idaho News

- ➤ The results for the Mayor's Million Minute Marathon showed that Gate City Elementary led with over 496,000 minutes read while Holy Spirit Catholic School achieved the highest average minutes read per student and full participation. Each school received $500 and more than 2 million minutes were logged during the event. KPVI

- ➤ Bannock County has posted hiring opportunities in Pocatello for several positions, including Emergency Management Director, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney level 1, Deputy Prosecutor III, Shop Supervisor, Event Staff, Part-time Administrative Assistant for Adult Probation and Pre-Trial, and Landfill Equipment Operator 2, posted on April 3. - ➤ The city released its Road Construction and Traffic Report for the week of April 6, outlining street sweeping, pothole repairs, sewer cleaning and water main replacement on Westello Blvd (6:30 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Thursday) over 2-3 weeks. - ➤ National non-profit Casting for Recovery offers a free two-day fly fishing retreat at Living Waters Ranch in Challis for women recovering from breast cancer — 14 participants gain physical therapy benefits while learning to fish, and the group relies on fundraising including a June 16 event at Jim Dandy’s Brewing.
