  • A 43-year-old man was rescued at Blacktail Reservoir after his kayak capsized in the water Saturday.  Idaho State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Portneuf District Library now offers a Makerspace where local residents can try high tech tools like a 3-D printer and laser engraver free of charge—appointments give patrons one-on-one training on each machine.  Local News 8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bravo 6 Flight Academy in Rexburg now trains aspiring pilots from no flight experience to a commercial level with multiple planes, instructors, and a flight simulator. The academy operates at the Madison County Airport and is in discussions for an expansion to Pocatello (with talks involving Idaho State University).  Local News 8

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Pocatello may see more wildlife on roads as warmer weather thaws snow and pushes animals into lower areas in search of food. Idaho Department of Fish and Game officials urge caution—motorists need to slow down in areas where sightings have been reported, especially during early morning and evening hours.  Local News 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador urged the House and Senate to override the governor’s veto of SB1023 on March 31—saying the Medical Freedom Act would protect Idahoans from vaccine and mask mandates.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • The Pocatello Fire Department is wrapping up today’s live fire training at 3534 Jason at 5 P.M.—motorists are urged to use caution in the area.  KPVI
  • The agendas for the Bannock County Commissioners meetings on April 1 and April 3 have been posted on the county website. The April 1 meeting was held yesterday and the April 3 meeting will be held tomorrow.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Pocatello High School varsity baseball team will open the 2026 season at Hawthorne Middle School thanks to a new sponsorship that will fund Rails West Field with an all-turf surface—allowing earlier practice amid weather challenges. Coach Vinnie Benavidez said the upgrade is expected to boost the program as the team aims to improve on its slow start this season.  East Idaho News
