- ➤ Registration is open for the 28th Annual Run with the Big Dogs event organized by The Friends of the Pocatello Animal Shelter, which will feature a 2k walk/run and a 5k run at Lower Ross Park on Saturday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. Participants pay $40 and must register today to receive the event T-shirt—proceeds will support shelter animal adoptions. - ➤ On Saturday, firefighters from several local departments battled a blaze that destroyed a multi-level house near McCammon—likely caused by a barbecue grill. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ On Saturday evening, a fire that started on a back porch by a barbecue grill destroyed a home on Old Highway 91 north of McCammon as 20 firefighters from five departments battled rising winds; the home—valued at over $700,000—was a complete loss while the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office closed the road for about an hour, and no one was injured. East Idaho News
- ➤ Six young people were injured when an SUV left a local road near Inkom, crashed through a fence and overturned early Sunday evening — officials said. Idaho State Journal

- ➤ Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 3.7% in February as the labor force increased by 433 and total employment rose by 797 workers — Pocatello recorded a 0.5% gain in nonfarm jobs. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Idaho State University in Pocatello—reporting a spring enrollment of 11,058 students—said overall enrollment increased 2.9% from last spring and reached its highest count since Spring 2016. Undergraduate enrollment grew by 4.3% with 371 more students, first-time enrollment increased by 2.3% with 217 new students, and early college enrollment rose to 1,796 while graduate enrollment fell by 0.8%. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On March 27, Idaho Fish and Game, with help from Chubbuck Police and Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, tranquilized and relocated a 2-year-old bull moose after reports spotted it near Chubbuck and Yellowstone roads. The moose later moved to Cotant Park and a storage facility (near Alpine Animal Hospital) prompting officials to urge motorists to drive carefully this spring. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ On Sunday, March 30 at 8 a.m., officials from the Shoshone Bannock Tribal Fish and Game and Fish and Wildlife Departments relocated 120 elk from Interstate 15 in Fort Hall following dozens of animal-caused traffic crashes — they will continue monitoring the freeway for further incidents.
