EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho State University reported that spring enrollment reached 11,058 students, a 2.9% increase from last spring and the highest since spring 2016—217 of these students are new first-time undergraduates, marking a 2.3% rise in new enrollment.  KPVI
  • Idaho State University reported a spring enrollment increase — continuing a three-year trend of growth that reflects sustained student interest.  Idaho State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A committee sent a major overhaul of Idaho’s campaign finance law to the House on Monday in Boise — lawmakers will soon debate the proposed changes.  Post Register
  • A guest columnist reported that several key bills remain stuck in committee as the legislative session nears its end today—if not addressed, these bills will drop dead and must be reintroduced next January. Lawmakers face pressure from lobbyists and interest groups to bring full hearings to measures that affect education, union rights, and property leasing.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

SPORTS NEWS

  • Idaho State softball right fielder Gracie Smith was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. The Bengals—who have earned honors four times in eight weeks with a record of 19 to 12—will open conference play this weekend against Sacramento State and then return to Pocatello next weekend for a three-game set.  East Idaho News
