  • A community rally gave Pocatello's unofficial ambassador of smiles, Delynn Wilson, a new motorized trike to help keep his 36-year job at McDonald's secure. A local bike rescue charity post spurred donations from businessman Sam Casper + Rolling Rogue RC to support his independence.  Local News 8
  • A free concert in Pocatello kicks off Feeding the 5,000’s 29th year – an event that provides essentials to people in need. Started by two Methodist Sunday school teachers, the program fights hunger in East Idaho today.  Idaho State Journal
  • Gate City Games in Pocatello celebrated six years of community-built quests today and invites locals to create their own adventures by role-playing imaginative characters such as a half-vampire knight. The milestone marks the store’s ongoing role as a hub for creative gaming.  Idaho State Journal
  • Gate City Brewfest will return to historic downtown Pocatello for its 15th annual celebration on Saturday, March 14. The event will bring local brewers and community members together.  Idaho State Journal
  • Former East Idaho resident Zelma Loyd (affectionately known as Babe) will celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday, Mar. 21, having been born on Mar. 21, 1926.  Post Register

CULTURE NEWS

  • A local woodworker who left trucking for woodworking will join the Pocatello Spring Fair later this month + he explains every tree tells a story and each creation is unique.  Idaho State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On March 11, more than 140 students from Lewis & Clark and Syringa Elementary schools graduated from the D.A.R.E. program at a ceremony led by Officer Nielsen—marking his final year teaching the program—and families also enjoyed a K9 demonstration by Cpl.   • Snake River School District 52 serves over 1,600 students in its online program and administrators Sherrilynn Bair and Scott Corgatelli say students are thriving virtually. The district uses digital tools to offer engaging lessons for all.  Post Register

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A destructive windstorm hit east Idaho Thursday, shutting down nearly 30 miles of I-15 and leaving many without power as gusts reached 70 mph (causing travel delays).  Post Register
