COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Bannock County Veterans Memorial Building will celebrate its 100th anniversary this Memorial Day with a week of events honoring community history and volunteer efforts — donations are being accepted for Birthday Bingo prizes and a Murder Mystery Dinner silent auction.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • Valley Mission received a $5000 donation from First Presbyterian Church and a $25,000 gift from an anonymous donor to support the completion of its food pantry (which will lead to a new warming shelter). Director Karl Pettit said the nonprofit will join the Idaho Gives campaign in early May.  KPVI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Southeast Idaho Transportation Company acquired competitor Yellowstone Transportation to boost its fleet in Pocatello. Owner Michael Blakey said the deal will strengthen service for residents and visitors — a move aimed at meeting regional needs.  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • ISU’s aircraft maintenance program held a movie night fundraiser Thursday at Pocatello Regional Airport by showing Top Gun: Maverick to support student skills competitions. Program coordinator Tyler Sprague said the event raised visibility for the only FAA-approved program in Idaho + enrollment filled early amid strong industry demand.  KPVI
  • The Idaho Museum of Natural History will host monthly Homeschool Days for the rest of the school year, starting today, Feb. 27, at Building #12, ISU campus (698 E Dillon St) from 12 to 4:30 p.m. Students can use self-guided education packets on Hagerman Horse for $4.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

  • Premier Eye Care will open its second location next month to boost access to specialized eye care for patients in Southeast Idaho.  Idaho State Journal

  • Highland High School cheer team claimed its second consecutive national title today, adding to their record of 16 state championships under coach Jessica Gallup at a national event.  Idaho State Journal
