- ➤ Bannock Humane Society hosts its 'From Our Hearts to Yours' adoption event on Saturday from 12 to 4 pm, offering cats, kittens and dogs for adoption on Valentine’s Day. Adoption fees include microchipping, vaccines and spay/neuter (appointments available via email). KPVI
- ➤ Construction crews are working on the Center Street Underpass today in Pocatello as they install temporary pile shoring for support; Cannon builders will soon begin concrete placement and relocate the project crane to the east side while keeping pedestrian access open. KPVI

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Education and Idaho Parents Unlimited are expanding the Parent LINK mentorship program statewide to support families with face-to-face special education guidance. The program started with ten trained mentors in Lake Pend Oreille and will soon offer local support for navigating the IEP process. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ The Steven Dee Merrell Detachment #698 of the Marine Corps League is accepting applications for the Roy Weaver Memorial Scholarship from Idaho high school seniors, with materials due by April 1. Applicants must submit a recommendation letter, transcript, and an essay (450 to 550 words outlining future goals and academic plans) to the designated address in Pocatello. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Fish and Game is working with federal partners to conduct prescribed burns at Sterling Wildlife Management Area between Feb. 10 and March 30 to reduce excess wetland vegetation and improve waterfowl habitat. A portion of the area will be closed during burns so visitors must heed closure signs. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ Eligible Bannock County residents can save up to $1,500 on property taxes by applying for the 2026 Property Tax Reduction program + the Assessor’s Office holds open houses starting Feb. 24 at Arimo City Hall and ending March 12 at Chubbuck City Hall with applications due by April 15.
