- ➤ An 11-year-old senior dog named Tux needs a forever home as Sarah believes he may be a well-trained cocker-spaniel mix. Community members can call Pocatello Animal Services (208-234-6156) to schedule a meeting with him. KPVI
- ➤ First National Bar in Pocatello will host its annual Super Bowl party on Sunday, Feb. 8 with a chili and wing cook-off at 1:30 p.m. plus prizes, games, a balloon pop, dollar jello shots and a potluck. KPVI
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Kingpot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot, located at 1599 Yellowstone Ave in Pocatello, will close Feb. 28 after a two-year run, with the space planned to reopen as Souper Bowl Mongolian Grill in March (management says the change aims to offer a more affordable dining model). East Idaho News
- ➤ Butter Burr’s Lickety Split will close its Yellowstone Avenue location on Feb. 13 after serving Pocatello for nine years as a drive-thru and sit-down spot (a decision to focus on its main restaurant). Butter Burr’s at 160 W. Cedar St. remains open to serve the community. East Idaho News

- ➤ The Aslett Clean World Foundation plans to convert the Museum of Clean building into a community center that will be renamed soon. An open house held today shared ideas to partner with local businesses + host events such as Touch-a-Truck on June 9 and the Potato Festival on Aug. 22. Local News 8

- ➤ Pocatello was ranked 5th nationally in the Milken Institute’s Best-Performing Cities Index following 11.4 percent job growth in professional & business services in 2024. City leaders said the strong ranking reflects ongoing investments in workforce and infrastructure. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ Idaho State University paleontologists reported that fossils from Wyoming could point to a new dinosaur species — they will return to Zurich to conduct 3D scans and detailed comparisons with known specimens as part of ongoing research. The study builds on unique features found in a toe bone and braincase. East Idaho News
- ➤ Idaho State University announced it will merge the College of Education with the College of Fine Arts into a new college and cut 45 positions to save $1.8 million. The budget plan addresses an $8 million gap with layoffs scheduled to begin June 20 (some positions are already vacant). East Idaho News
