- ➤ Christy Kelshaw invited a local writer to experience the behind-the-scenes work at The Popcorn Shop — where 50 popcorn flavors and made-from-scratch treats, including Tutti Frutti, are created. The shop, at 421 East Oak Street, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. East Idaho News

- ➤ AAA Idaho said gas prices increased this week as the state average for regular reached $2.78 per gallon on Monday. Prices remain nine cents lower than a month ago and 27 cents less than a year ago despite higher national rates. East Idaho News

- ➤ The Caribou-Targhee National Forest confirmed a fire burned in the historic Bear Gulch Railroad Tunnel near the Bear Gulch parking area (less than a half a mile away) on Jan. 26, with the cause unknown and visitors asked to avoid the trail until further notice. KPVI
- ➤ Idaho State University researchers in Pocatello are studying underground dams to address the state's growing water & energy needs. Their work may lead to innovative solutions as demand increases. Idaho State Journal

- ➤ Disabled veterans may apply for a free Special Big Game Hunt tag covering deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, black bear, or mountain lion hunts. Idaho residents with a VA disability rating must submit applications by Saturday, Jan. 31, with selections made by a committee (notifications via the Division of Veterans Services).
