CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local tattoo artist Scott Day, influenced by his father's tattoo work, has opened Day Tattoo in Pocatello. The parlor offers custom designs (a nod to his lifelong passion for art) that bring a personal touch to the local scene. Idaho State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tuesday, ISU began renovating the Roy F. Christensen Complex (set to house its physician assistant and Medical Laboratory Science programs) to create modern lab space for students. The project will boost training for future healthcare professionals. Local News 8
- ➤ The Idaho National Laboratory is accepting grant applications to fund K-12 STEM education and community development programs. Applicants must submit by Feb. 16 at 11:59 p.m. to be considered for funding from Battelle Energy Alliance (which operates the lab for the DOE). Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pocatello’s Planning and Development Department is hosting an open house on Jan. 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to share findings from a housing study and discuss development strategies. KPVI
- ➤ Idaho Fish and Game received input from 750 HAT volunteers to restrict drones, night vision, thermal imaging and transmitting trail cameras on public lands from Aug. 30 to Dec. 31; the proposals will be revised and sent to the Legislature for approval during the session starting Jan. 12.
